Wednesday long run

12.1 miles 1:42:30 HR 147

Really felt flat in the beginning, I should have done 3 miles of warm up.

2 miles easy

2X10 min at 7:25, min easy jog between sets.

1 hour easy



The first 10 min I had a difficult time getting going so I ate a gel 5 min into it and felt great for another hour.

Would you recommend packing a gel or two for a half marathon?

BTW, your HR figures are amazing! I'd like to see how much faster you go when you get your HR up to 180 in a race! Keep up the good work!

I do very well on gels and I really don't know why. For my Half Ironman's I normally bring 3 gels with me on the run and take them at miles 3,6 and 9. That's after a 56 mile bike ride where I eat 1 gel every 30 minutes. It works for me but I practice it often. I find that Gatorade and GU doesn't work well together with me. I've recently bought some Infinit nutrition and will try that today.

My HR took a nose dive this year, probably 8-10 beats lower than the end of last season. I would like to credit Daniel's running formula for that. Buy the book and run his programs, you will not be dissappointed. I am using the Marathon A program untill June after which I will have a coach.

Next weekend I'll se how the HR hold up during racing :)

I picked up some gels today. I'm gonna try one during my long run tomorrow.

As for the book, it get's 4.5 stars at Amazon.com so maybe wifey can give it to me for Father's Day.
