It has been 6 months since my surgery.
My shoulder is probably 90% of what it used to be, maybe more. It is better than 4 weeks ago and continues to get stronger but at a slower pace than before. The doctors say it will probably be healing for up to a year. I think I could make it better with swimming and strength training. I haven't been doing any of the exercises except maybe once a week, I need to make more of an effort towards them. Most of my effort is going into training on the bike to be ready for State Championships and then Nationals. At Nationals, we are probably a 3rd or 4th place team but we want to be better than the previous years.
My teammates and I are going back to threshold training for 5-10 weeks and then back to VO2max efforts. I think that is the best route right now for the entire team. I've been at 200 miles a week for the last 2 weeks again but will likely be short of that this week, maybe more like 140-160 miles.
I want to get back to swimming and running again, not at the level I was at before, maybe half of that. I'd like to get in the pool 2 times a week and run 4 times. I don't know if I can fit strength training into the schedule, I don't think there is a big return on it for me right now. 10 weeks isn't enough time to see significant gains compared to threshold training on the bike. I may do it just for fun occasionally.
I have spent a little time on the motorcycle, not as much as I did last year because it's been colder outside. This weekend I'm going to Grattan to ride, I've been struggling with on-throttle front end grip. I think it's a combination of suspension and my riding abilities.
Weight loss is going OK. I'm pretty stable at 144-145 lbs and not skipping dinner like I was before. If I want to lose more I need to make better choices for meals. When I took a few days off to go to Barber Motorsports park a few weeks ago, I didn't eat well and put 1-2 lbs back on.
